Rock Island County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of 2000, the population was 149,374. A 2010 estimate shows a slight decline in population to 147,347.[1]

Its county seat is Rock Island, Illinois[2]. It is one of the four counties that make up the Davenport-Moline-Rock Island Metropolitan Statistical Area.[3]

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 451 square miles (1,168 km²), of which 427 square miles (1,105 km²) is land and 24 square miles (63 km²) (5.41%) is water.
