Saguache County[1] is the seventh most extensive of the 64 counties of the State of Colorado of the United States. The county name comes from a Ute language word meaning "blue earth" or "water at blue earth". The county population was 5,917 at U.S. Census 2000.[2] The county seat is the Town of Saguache.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 3,170 square miles (8,211 km²), of which 3,168 square miles (8,206 km²) is land and 2 square miles (5 km²) (0.06%) is water.
