Sandusky County is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the population was 61,792. Its county seat is Fremont[2] and it is named for a native word meaning "water" (Wyandot: saundustee).[3]

The Fremont Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Sandusky County.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 418 square miles (1,082 km²).409 square miles (1,060 km²) of it is land and 9 square miles (22 km²) of it (2.06%) is water.
