Shackelford is a census-designated place (CDP) in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The population was 5,170 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area.



Shackelford was probably settled in 1918 when the Lion's Bridge was constructed.

Crows Landing Rd. Shopping District

The Crows Landing Rd. Shopping District is a long strip of shopping centers and shops along the Crows Landing Rd. It is located in the CPD's centre. This centre is highly influenced by Mexican culture.

Shackelford is located at 37°36′54″N 120°59′27″W / 37.615°N 120.99083°W / 37.615; -120.99083 (37.615082, -120.990969)[1] in South Modesto. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.2 km²), of which, 0.9 square miles (2.2 km²) of it is land and 1.16% is water.


As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 5,170 people, 1,363 households, and 1,053 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 6,106.4 people per square mile (2,348.4/km²). There were 1,454 housing units at an average density of 1,717.3/sq mi (660.5/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 50.14% White, 1.41% African American, 2.13% Native American, 0.95% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 38.63% from other races, and 6.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 68.12% of the population.
