Sulphur Springs is a city in Benton County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 671 at the 2000 census. It is part of the FayettevilleSpringdaleRogers, AR-MO Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Sulphur Springs is located at 36°28′56″N 94°27′37″W / 36.48222°N 94.46028°W / 36.48222; -94.46028 (36.482209, -94.460143)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 671 people, 229 households, and 160 families residing in the city. The population density was 667.1 people per square mile (256.5/km²). There were 279 housing units at an average density of 277.4/sq mi (106.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 86.74% White, 2.24% Black or African American, 0.89% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 7.15% from other races, and 2.68% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 16.69% of the population.

There were 229 households out of which 40.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.4% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 24.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.45.
