Trosa Municipality is a municipality in Södermanland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Trosa.
The present municipality was created as recently as 1992, when Nyköping Municipality, which Trosa had been a part of since 1974, was split in three parts.
The municipality borders to Nyköping Municipality, Gnesta Municipality, and to the north to Södertälje Municipality in Stockholm County.
The city is known for its season markets, Trosa Market in the summer and the Christmas and Harvest market during fall and winter. Every year these events attracts thousands of people. During those events there is usually also a small amusement park set up in the harbour.
During the summer the municipality's population increases from 10 000 to 45 000. Trosa is also a popular city to go to for yachtspeople or other holiday makers.
Within the municipality there are four churches; of those the church in Trosa rural parish is from the 13th century; Västerljung's Church is also from the medieval age; and the Trosa church is one of few 18th century churches in the area.
Trosa is a popular place to visit in the summer. Part due to the municipal archipelago, and partly because the town itself is picturesque. One can stroll by the stream Trosaån through central Trosa, seeing its small wooden houses.
