Turnersville is a census-designated place and unincorporated area located within Washington Township, in Gloucester County, New Jersey. As of the United States 2000 Census, the CDP population was 3,867. It is named after the Turner family, one of the original families of Washington Township.[3] The area falls under the 08012 ZIP code for Blackwood.



Turnersville is located at 39°46′07″N 75°03′50″W / 39.768635°N 75.063874°W / 39.768635; -75.063874 (39.768635, -75.063874).[4]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.9 km2 (1.5 mi²), all land.


As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 3,867 people, 1,167 households, and 1,060 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,002.1/km2 (2,603.4/mi2). There were 1,179 housing units at an average density of 305.5/km2 (793.7/mi2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.68% White, 3.67% African American, 0.03% Native American, 2.48% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.45% of the population.

There were 1,167 households out of which 49.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 81.3% were married couples living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.1% were non-families. 7.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.31 and the average family size was 3.49.
