The University of Manitoba, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is the largest university in the province of Manitoba. It is Manitoba's most comprehensive and only research-intensive post-secondary educational institution.[2] It was founded in 1877, making it Western Canada’s first university.[2][3] It placed in SJTU's list of the world's Top 500 Universities. According to U.S. News & World Report, the University of Manitoba is among the top 20 universities in Canada and top 400 universities in the world as of 2009.[4][5]
