Vernon Township is a civil township of Isabella County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,342 at the 2000 census.




According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.7 square miles (92.4 km²), of which, 35.4 square miles (91.8 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²) of it (0.70%) is water.


As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,342 people, 488 households, and 380 families residing in the township. The population density was 37.9 per square mile (14.6/km²). There were 573 housing units at an average density of 16.2/sq mi (6.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.47% White, 0.37% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.15% from other races, and 1.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.35% of the population.
