Wellfleet is a village in Lincoln County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the North Platte, Nebraska Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 76 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Wellfleet is located at 40°45′10″N 100°43′46″W / 40.75278°N 100.72944°W / 40.75278; -100.72944 (40.752718, -100.729509)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 76 people, 27 households, and 18 families residing in the village. The population density was 272.6 people per square mile (104.8/km²). There were 32 housing units at an average density of 114.8/sq mi (44.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 92.11% White, and 7.89% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.58% of the population.

There were 27 households out of which 40.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% were married couples living together, 3.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% were non-families. 18.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.44.

In the village the population was spread out with 30.3% under the age of 18, 11.8% from 18 to 24, 18.4% from 25 to 44, 30.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 111.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $32,500, and the median income for a family was $48,750. Males had a median income of $29,167 versus $12,500 for females. The per capita income for the village was $13,011. There were 15.4% of families and 15.4% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 77.8% of those over 64.
