Weston County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Its county seat is Newcastle.[1] The population was 6,644 at the 2000 census.

History

Weston County was organized in 1890. In 1890, Weston County was created out of a portion of Crook County. The County was named after Jefferson B. Weston (1831-1895), a former Nebraska State Auditor (1873-1879). http://www.wyomingtalesandtrails.com/gillette.html

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,400 square miles (6,216 km²), of which 2,398 square miles (6,210 km²) is land and 2 square miles (6 km²) (0.09%) is water.
