Wimbledon is a district of south London, England, located in the London Borough of Merton. It is situated 7 miles (11.3 km) south-west of Charing Cross. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.[1] For most of the past century, Wimbledon has been internationally known as the home of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
