1 Instructions
- Please name each homework map you create as follows: “hwK-mapN, where K is the homework number and N is the map number within that homework.
- As usual, paste the answers to any short-answer questions into the short-answer areas of the submission forms.
- As you are editing you may wish to use the “/” keyboard shortcut to collapse/expand the sub-map below the currently selected node.
2 Tasks
- Read: Ned Markosian, Do you know that you are not a brain in a vat? from the beginning through and including Objection 2, which ends on p. 172.
- Map the version of the Brain In a Vat Argument that Markosian presents in section 1.
- Add to your map the objection to Premise (1) that Markosian gives in Section 3.
- Add Objection 1 and Objection 2 to your map.
- [Optional] Read more of the Markosian paper and to your map one or more additional objections that he considers.
- [Even more optional] Add an objection of your own to your map, clearly marking things to distinguish your contribution from the rest of the map. If you do this, it is a good idea to first check to see whether your objection matches one of the objections Markosian considers.
