Welcome to our

Construction Site

    Adele E. Goldberg

This site details research on the learning, processing, and representation of linguistic form-function pairings known as constructions.

We ask how constructions are learned and processed, what the relationship is between constructional use and other general cognitive processes (such as categorization and social cognition), and how a constructionist approach to language can shed light on questions relating to linguistic productivity and cross-linguistic generalizations.  More generally, we are interested in the psychology of language from just about every angle.
