Alumni Studies is an educational program open to all Princeton alumni, parents, and friends.

About the Program:
Each household that enrolls will receive readings, lectures on tape, and access to an e-mail discussion group. Those who wish to pursue their studies further can come to campus for optional lectures and precepts. The formal lectures that are delivered on campus will be audio-taped and sent to all participants.

Program Registration:
Each household that enrolls will receive the following materials:

  • Course syllabus.
  • Seven lectures on tape.
  • Group text: The Salon.com Reader’s Guide to Contemporary Authors.
  • Reading packet.
  • Access to an e-mail discussion group.
  • Cost: $80 per household

Optional On-Campus Programs:
Those who wish to pursue their studies further can participate in two on-campus programs, each with different content:
Friday and/or Saturday: October 13 - 14, 2000
Friday and/or Saturday: December 8 - 9, 2000

The on-campus programs feature lectures by Princeton faculty, precepts and films.

Sample Friday Session:
11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.Registration/Lunch
1:00 - 2:00 p.m.Lecture 1
2:15 - 3:30 p.m.Precept
3:45 - 4:45 p.m.Lecture 2
5:00 - 5:45 p.m.Reception
5:45 - 7:00 p.m.Dinner
7:15 - 9:30 p.m.Film and Discussion
Cost:$65 per person for full program.
$20 per person for auditing only.

Sample Saturday Session:
8:00 - 9:00 a.m.Registration/Continental Breakfast
9:15 - 10:15 a.m.Lecture 3
10:30 - 11:30 a.m.Lecture 4 or Panel Discussion
11:45 - noonEvaluation and Wrap-up
Cost:$20 per person for full program.
$10 per person for auditing only.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can I sign up for the on-campus sessions at a later time?
    Yes. Please recognize that space is limited, and registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Can I bring non-Princeton alumni, kin, or parents as my guests?
    Yes. However, we ask that non-Princetonians be registered as guests of a Princeton alumnus or parent.

  • Can I audit the on-campus lectures (and not attend meals) at a reduced tuition rate?
    Yes. Auditing pricing is available for the on-campus sessions. Please see the registration form.

  • The course is currently underway. Can I still sign up?
    Yes. You can proceed with the readings and tapes at your own pace. Recognize, however, that the e-mail discussion group will end on January 12, 2001.

  • Can I enroll for the course after the Fall semester?
    Yes. Provided we still have course materials in stock, we are happy to accept registrations after the course has officially ended. The readings and lectures on tape can be enjoyed at any time.
