The Family Model in
Chinese Art and Culture
This symposium focuses on the multifaceted aspects of the family model as
an enduring force central to patterns of social organization and cultural
articulation throughout Chinese history. The papers provide an interdisciplinary
exploration of the ways in which family and the arts intersect to inform artistic
perceptions, content, and production.
Organized by the P. Y. and Kinmay W. Tang Center for
East Asian Art and co-sponsored with the Department of Art and Archaeology and
the Princeton University Art Museum with support from the Freeman Foundation
