Traveling to Princeton

• From the north, take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 9 (New Brunswick) and follow signs for Trenton (Route 18 west for .5 mi., then Route 1 south).

•• Alternate route from New England: Take New York State Thruway 87 to Interstate 287 south. At Bridgewater/Somerville, take 206 south to Princeton.

• From the south, take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 8 (Hightstown); follow signs for Hightstown and then Princeton.

• From the west, take Interstate 95 north from Philadelphia to Route 1 north. Follow Route 1 to Route 571 (Princeton-Hightstown Road) and follow signs to Princeton.

By Train
Trains to Princeton Junction leave New York City's Penn Station and Philadelphia's 30th Street Station regularly. From Princeton Junction, a two-car train (known as the Dinky) makes the five-minute trip to Princeton. The Dinky does not meet every train, so consult a current schedule before making travel plans.

By Airplane:
Newark International Airport is most convenient to Princeton. Shuttle service between the airport and Princeton is available through the Princeton Airporter (their courtesy phones are available at the airport terminals' limousine counters). These vans arrive at and leave from the Nassau Inn, located in Palmer Square (one block from the University).

You could also take AirTrain from the terminal and connect to NJ Transit
Most NJ TRANSIT trains on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line stop at the Newark International Airport Station, which connects you to AirTrain, a service provided by The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey that will take you to your airline terminal. NJ TRANSIT operates 794 trains per week that stop at the new Newark International Airport Station, including 620 weekday trains (124 per day) and 174 weekend trains (87 per day). Specific NJ TRANSIT arrival and departure times are available in Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line timetables.

Buses from Newark International Airport travel to Penn Station in Newark and to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. The Princeton Airporter also offers limousine service to and from New York's Kennedy Airport. From the Philadelphia International Airport, train and limousine service are available to Philadelphia's 30th Street Station; Amtrak service to Princeton is available from the station.

By Bus:
New Jersey's Suburban Transit Corporation provides bus service from the Port
Authority Bus Terminal at 8th Avenue and 41st Street in New York City. Buses leave New York and Princeton every half hour during the day for the two-hour trip.
