Godzilla
Jane M. Woodruff
PRISM
This was a human body louse that we viewed on a JEOL 35U ~ 1969. We were studying “rickettsia” which carry typhus and are hosted in the lice. We gold coated the lice and viewed them in the scanning electron microscope. When we took them out some were still alive! Hence the name “Godzilla.”
