D. Michael Lindsay studies the relations among religion, culture, and elites. His dissertation entails the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of societal leaders who are evangelical in religious orientation. His longitudinal study, which involves interviewing individuals who have held at least one leadership position between 1976 and 2006, examines the influence of business, governmental, and cultural leaders on American evangelicalism over the last 30 years. Working with the Center for Arts and Cultural Policy Studies, Michael is investigating evangelical elites in the entertainment industry as well as the creative and artistic sector of society.
