Nadezhda Savova's project focuses on the cultural policy of heritage conceptualization in Cuba and Brazil. Her research spans four levels of arts and heritage discourse: transnational, national, local, and personal, and each one explores how the notions of intangible cultural heritage are imagined and applied to shape social relationships, politics, economics and cultural norms. Savova hopes her research will stimulate more academic and policy discussions on the multiple roles of both modern and "folk" arts in their community-practiced artistic expressions, such as dances, singing, music and theatre.
