There is a rich variety in the interests of the members of ASAP. ASAP encourages individual members to take the initiative in forming Clubs with fellow ASAP members, to pursue their special interests. Below are the clubs which have already been started by various members. Cricket ClubThe cricket club meets every Saturday at 4 pm behind the Graduate College (during Summer and fall) to play cricket, undoubtedly the most popular game in south asia. All are welcome. Vardha (vsriniva@) is the in-charge. Film ClubThe film club will be mainly screening popular south asian feature films. The current movie club in-charges are Subroto (mukerjee@) and Subhayu (basu@). The first movie is "Pushpak" starring Kamal Hasan to be screened after the open house dinner on Friday, Feb 27. Malayalam ClubThe Malayalam club is for anyone interested in the life and culture of Kerala, the contemporary social issues, the language and literature, the arts, the movies, the cuisine and anything else related to Kerala. Outdoor Adventures ClubThe purpose of Outdoor Action Club is to engage in outdoor sports once in a while (2-3 weeks). During the spring/summer, whitewater rafting/kayaking/hiking trips will be planned while during the winter skiing/snowboarding trips will be the focus. Everyone is welcome and no experience in any activity is necessary. This is a great opportunity to develop new interests while having fun. Sanskrit ClubThis is a club for people interested in doing Sankrit reading. For more information contact the club in-charge, Kumar (ramank@). Music ClubThis is a club and a forum for anyone interested in various kinds of music, including Carnatic, Hindustani, Folk, Sufi, Sinhala, Qawwali, Nepali etc, which originated in South Asia, or which was borrowed from other parts and developed/adapted over the ages, or which were "recently" introduced and is already part of the popular mainstream music. Other ClubsMany other clubs are being planned/discussed/dreamed which include food, Urdu poetry, carroms, social service, yoga, literature and classical music among others.
