Academics

I'm a second year graduate student in the history department at Princeton. I graduated from Harvard in 2003 with a BA in Social Studies.

20th century American and European intellectual history. German emigre philosophers, composers, and others. Adorno and the Frankfurt School, history of the social sciences (particularly sociology and communications). Dating back to college, I have a residual interest in political and moral philosophy.

Here's a collection of maps, based on the google maps API, that shows the locations of various German and other emigres in Los Angeles in the thirties through the fifties.

Higher education policy. I worked for the American Academy 's Humanities Indicators Project and am still interested in humanities data. Matt Chingos and I have a forthcoming paper in PS about ranking graduate programs based on their placement record; you can download a copy here.
