Princeton University is pleased to announce the Seventh Annual Buddhist Studies Graduate Student Conference. The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for exchange and cross-fertilization between current graduate student research projects related to BuddhismTwelve student papers (twenty minutes in length) will be presented, each followed by comments from one or two faculty respondents. One session will be allotted for a more informal discussion of methodological currents in the field of Buddhist Studies. It is hoped that the combination of a large group of graduate student peers and a diverse panel of faculty respondents will offer presenters both critical and productive discussions of their work.

As in years past, there will be no explicit theme; however we hope that presenters will address the challenges of shifting paradigms and changing landscapes facing a new generation of scholars of Buddhism.  Toward this end, we encourage submissions reflecting a wide range of subjects,  methodologies, and disciplines including, but not limited to, religious studies, history, anthropology, art history, area studies, literature, and philosophy. Additionally, we seek to represent a diversity of geographic regions relevant to the study of Buddhism.

Funding is available to help defray the transportation costs of graduate students who are presenting at the conference.  Limited financial assistance may also be available for other attendees, as determined on a case-by-case basis.
