(dolly/Butler life coordinator), Nancy Jones, Nicole Jui (gardening
co-coordinator), Bo Xu (Web Master), Bronwyn Smith (Community Room Coordinator)
Community members present: Olivia Martel
Meeting called to order at 9:06pm.
Dante (who is subbing as chair for David who is out of town) began the meeting
with reports from committee members.
¡¡
Bo (webmaster)-
move in/out change on registry going fine.
Nicole Jui (gardening co-coordinators)- they had a donation of produce
to Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. Tao is leaving in September. Still not
planning to fill the position until December. No other business.
Nancy (secretary)- none
Anna (Butler Life coordinator)-
Has the final draft of this year¡¯s Bugle to present to the committee. What is
the final decision about distributing the Bugle? Committee decided that we
should wait until September to pass out to residents. A stack will go to Housing
when new move-ins come before September. Olivia said housing suggested they will
give them to the new move-ins as they come, or we can direct them on line as
well. Anna is concerned about the flyer being outdated by the Fall. But it won¡¯t
actually be a concern, as the codes aren¡¯t changing, etc.
There was ¡°almost¡± a lost dolly key, but it was recovered.
Bronwyn (Community Room)- She purchased a container for the games, but
it was too small so she will be purchasing a bigger one and labeling it:
¡°Property of Butler Community. Please return¡¡± etc.
She will be moving in November.
Made a suggestion to purchase
nicer/newer toys & books to have in the community room. Just a thought to
discuss later on. Dante suggested involving the resident parents for input.
Olivia- Met with Matt Ferry on July 10th. The following was
reviewed¡ª
Bike racks: 3 were installed right outside the Comm. Room. Bench being moved: Carpenter shop will be making a new sign-board for the bus stop. The other one is too old and not worth moving. There is no date as to when that will happen.
Anna asked about how we can find out the exact mowing day to be able to move our things out of the yard. Last year it was Tuesdays, but this year they don¡¯t have enough money so they only come every other Tuesday.
Lamp post was fixed. Blue light phone
status: Garth Walters group will be discussing campus wide blue-light
installments will be reviewed tomorrow (Tuesday Aug. 4th). Butler
will be included in that discussion.
Poor lighting around campus and Butler housing was discussed and Dante was a key
in getting that issue rolling.
Bronwyn asked that Olivia relay some
positive feedback to her people. A child of a friend ran off and went missing.
When they stopped some maintenance workers, the workers, Dwight, everyone were
on top of it instantly. Big thanks and great job to them!
¡¡
Dante (external relations)- stapler for computer cluster: will need to be our responsibility. OIT will not. But they will put in a recycle bin, if they haven¡¯t already. Bronwyn asked if they¡¯ll be putting in a shredder? Not likely.
David asked Dante to review the following:
--One way signs: Matt Ferry is going to be coming out to see them when they do a site check.
--dumpsters: have been getting swapped out for newer ones. Olivia says Matt Ferry told her that if we see someone dumping that isn¡¯t a resident, to report them.
--picnic area: what¡¯s public & private? We already discussed this previously.
--Stanworth walk-through: Dante mentioned that Jeff Dwoskin was hoping to arrange a walk through of what the Stanworth apartments are like, to get an idea of what to expect for our residents going there. It will be looked into.
--Air conditioner installment: there will not be any inspections or installments of air conditioners.
--Link for the new by-law document to be made available on the website. Bo will take care of it.
Anna asked about who we need to ask to remove weeds from the playground? Olivia says put in a work order.
Olivia discussed the Fall Welcome Activity. Possible Dates: September 22nd or 29th (Tuesday s) or Thursday Oct. 1st. We decided on September 22nd. Does anyone want to volunteer to bring treats to that? Volunteers: Nancy, Anna, Bronwyn, Nicole.
Nancy asked for feedback on the new ¡°slow- children¡± stands. All said it¡¯s helped them slow down, and we¡¯ve noticed others going slower as well. Perfect, they are serving their purpose!
Meeting adjourned at 9:45pm
