The Sqwonk bass clarinet duo has recently begun work on its third album, Sqwonk +, which will consist of recent compositions and arrangements by living American composers for Sqwonk in collaboration with six other ensembles.

After having released two albums of Sqwonk by itself – all featuring new music commissioned by Sqwonk – Sqwonk is excited to collaborate with some of its favorite musicians, including vocalist Amy X Neuburg, the ZOFO piano duo, the guitar-percussion duo The Living Earth Show, the Real Vocal String Quartet, the mixed new music ensemble Nonsemble 6, and Rootstock percussion. The composers to be featured on the CD are Amy X Neuberg, Jonathan Russell, Irene Sazer, and Barbara White.

The album will be released in fall 2013, and will be available for purchase via iTunes, CDBaby, JustForWinds, Sqwonk's website, and at all future Sqwonk performances.

forthcoming on a new cd by jennifer frautschi, violin; and john blacklow, piano:

from the NewMusicUSA Blog:

AMERICAN WORKS FOR VIOLIN AND PIANO

"As frequent performers of contemporary music, Frautschi and Blacklow have given serious attention to composers of their generation. They are particularly enthusiastic about individualistic and fearless composers whose visions are largely untethered to identifiable styles of the past. A common thread among these works is the composers’ incorporation of their visceral inspiration of life experiences directly into their music."

To be released in October of 2013 by Albany Records.
