David Thurn
David Thurn began his study of yoga in college with T.K.V. Desikachar. He completed his teacher training under Bobbi Goldin at the Yoga Institute of Miami. He has continued his study of yoga with teachers in the Iyengar tradition, including Kevin Gardiner, Mary Dunn, Carrie Owerko, and Dean & Rebecca Lerner.
In his teaching, David combines Iyengar's emphasis on precise alignment and Desikachar's emphasis on tailoring postures to the needs of individual students. He uses the postures and breath work of yoga to explore the connections between mind and body and to help students achieve greater focus, balance, and freedom. David teaches on Sundays.
Shivani Rabb
A native New Yorker born and raised in the village of Harlem, Shivani started meditating as a high school student, eventually finding a spiritual home in the teachings of Vedic and Buddhist philosophy.
Her yoga practice began in 1988 with scriptural study, devotional singing and performing community service. The unity of mind and body in a comprehensive exploration of yoga helped her survive the wilds of corporate America.
With a calling to share the practices, she completed her first teacher training at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in 2002. Shivani practices Astanga and Insight Meditation daily, and humbly offers thanks to all teachers who have guided her on the path. Shivani teaches on Tuesdays.
Jimmy Richardson
Jimmy was first introduced to yoga in 1998, at which point he immersed himself into his practice. Jimmy has recently completed his yoga certification through the American Yoga Academy of West Orange, New Jersey and is in the process of registering with the Yoga Alliance. He integrates the Iyengar style of yoga with other styles of yoga and emphasizes the importance of marrying the breath and the postures, creating a perfect partnership in the yoga practice. In addition to teaching yoga, Jimmy is also a certified massage therapist. His clear respect and compassion for the human body, mind and spirit is demonstrated through his touch and teaching style. Jimmy continues his practice under Joanne Carter of simplyYoga. Jimmy teaches on Wednesdays.
