Students enrolled in Melissa Harris-Lacewell's "The Politics of Race and Health in America" examined structural and political reasons for racial disparities in the rates of cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, infant mortality and other health issues and conducted community-based research in Camden, New Brunswick, Newark and Trenton, New Jersey.
