Jersey Trash 2003On April 27, 2003, Princeton College Bowl hosted its first ever trash tournament, Jersey Trash 2003. Congratulations to a hybrid team of Matt Weiner from VCU, Adam Fine and Chris Chrzanowski from Maryland, and Mark from Lehigh for going undefeated in the prelims and defeating a tough Delaware A team 215-205 in the last playoffs to clinch the title. The match came down to the last question, with Delware leading 205-195 before Adam Fine nailed the final tossup and the team sealed the deal with 10 points on their bonus. Delaware A ("Don Cheadle," "Abu Abbas," "Kim Jong Il," and Nate) had two losses (both to the tournament champions) and finished second. Individual awards were also given to the top four scorers during the preliminary rounds: Final Standings, Team Results, and Individual Results Here
For their efforts, the champion VCU/Maryland/Lehigh team members each won a pack of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards and a pack of Topps Baseball Cards w/Bazooka gum included. Delaware A's team members each won a pack of XFL trading cards. Thanks to co-editor/director Brad Klein for his work on the packets and staying up all Saturday Night to help print out material and finalize everything. Thanks to Brad, Roger Cheng, George Perez, and Rob Roberts for a solid job of moderating/scorekeeping. Thanks to Anthony De Jesus, Berkeley, and Brad for each submitting whole packets to be used, and thanks to Brad, Roger, Rob, Steve Freiberger, and Dan Recht for contributing questions, and to Lenny Kostovetsky for his advice and assistance in making sure everything went smoothly.
Again, congratulations to all the award winners, and thanks to every team that showed up, especially the Old Miss team that drove all the way from Mississippi to play their first tournament ever. We hope everyone who was part of Jersey Trash 2003 enjoyed it, and hopefully we'll see you at future Princeton tournaments.
