Department of ChemistryPrinceton University

The Undergraduate Program

Chemistry is the study of properties and transformations of matter under normal conditions where molecules dominate. It is often called the Central Discipline because it directly connects with most of the other natural sciences such as biology, geology, and physics. This is illustrated by the strong involvement of the Chemistry faculty and students in university interdisciplinary programs such as materials science, photonics, and environmental studies. Students will find that concentration in Chemistry will provide a broad foundation in modern science, where the old divisions are rapidly losing relevance.
