Hybrid Cars

What is a Hybrid Vehicle?

“Hybrid Vehicle” is in fact a fairly broad term.  It refers to any vehicle that utilizes two or more different power sources.  Thus a mo-ped and a nuclear-electric submarine are both examples of hybrid vehicles.  However, the hybrid vehicle most likely to become common in the future for personal transport is the hybrid car.  Hybrid cars essentially combine elements of electric cars with traditional internal combustion engines.  In a sense the idea behind them is to capture the best of both designs.  Like electric cars, they have improved efficiency over conventional vehicles and reduce automotive emissions.  Like conventional combustion engine cars, they offer long-range travel and quick refueling.
