Technical Challenges

 

This section of the website describes the current research in fusion energy, and the technical challenges that need to be solved in order for fusion to be a viable energy source. The two main challenges are achieving an efficient and sustainable reaction, and confining the plasma. Both theoretical and experimental research are important facets of this work. The discovery of cold fusion was announced in 1989, briefly receiving high publicity. Though largely dismissed today, there is still talk of its existence.
