Dioxins

Dioxins have no industrial use and are formed only as side products of natural combustion such as forest fires and volcanoes, or by industrial processes and incomplete combustion. Burning materials, especially those containing chlorine (such as plastics, treated wood, pesticide-treated wastes, and PCBs) produce dioxins. Cigarette smoke, home-heating systems, and exhaust from cars also contain trace amounts of dioxin.[1]

Studies estimate that 6,614 pounds of dioxin are produced worldwide annually. [2]
