Engineering in the Modern World

Among the works of concern  to engineering are bridges, railroads, power plants, highways, airports, harbors, automobiles, aircraft, computers and the microchip.  Historical perspective provides a basis for studying current urban problems.  A review of the use of scientific, ethical, and aesthetic aspects in the evolution of engineering over the past two centuries will be presented.
