Christy to head ORPAPrinceton NJ -- Michelle Christy has been promoted to director of the Office of Research and Project Administration, effective July 1, 2001. Associate Provost Allen Sinisgalli will step down as director of ORPA on June 30. He will continue to oversee a variety of major construction and renovation projects, manage space allocation and lead other special projects on behalf of the Office of the Provost. Christy joined ORPA five years ago as a senior grant and contract administrator. She also has served as the assistant director of the Office of Research and Project Administration at Tulane University and as a research contract specialist in the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects at Rutgers University, where she earned her B.A. and M.B.A. degrees. "Michelle has extensive experience in electronic research administration and a broad understanding of the issues and challenges surrounding the management of projects and all classes of research awards," said Provost Jeremiah Ostriker. ORPA's primary responsibility is to provide grant and
contract administration for research and instructional
projects funded by external sponsors. In addition, the
office provides research-related services to the University
community, including identifying potential sponsors,
assisting in the generation and processing of proposals,
serving as liaison to federal and state governments,
negotiating agreements, and assuring that research
activities comply with animal care, human subjects,
biosafety and conflict of interest regulations. ORPA also
manages the University's patent and licensing programs. |
