Memorial garden to honor alumni
Princeton NJ -- The University, working with class leaders, will build a memorial garden honoring the 13 alumni killed in the attacks of Sept. 11, President Tilghman announced at a Dec. 9 memorial service for the alumni.
"Our goal is to identify a beautiful and peaceful and living place where the names of these 13 Princetonians can be memorialized for all time," Tilghman said at the service in the University Chapel. "We hope it will become a place not only of remembrance, but of reflection and renewal -- a place where their flames can be kept alive and their spirits can be at peace."
The garden is expected to be created in the vicinity of the new humanities center under construction just to the east of Nassau Hall. A precise location and design have not been identified.
