B Y T H E N U M B E R S Alumni in government servicePrinceton University has a long roll of notable graduates who went on to careers in government service, including: nine founding fathers; two presidents; and more than 40 governors, 30 cabinet members, 200 members of Congress and 100 ambassadors. Princeton alumni who currently are pursuing careers in government service include: U.S. Senators Paul Sarbanes '54, Christopher Bond '60 and William Frist '74, who also is the Senate majority leader; U.S. Representatives James Leach '64 and James Marshall II '72; Governor of Maryland Robert Ehrlich Jr. '79; Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld '54; FBI Director Robert Mueller III '66; Mitchell Daniels '71, director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President; and Joshua Bolten '76, deputy chief of staff for policy in the White House. |
