Princeton at the World Championships

Princeton rowing was well represented at the 1999 World Championships held at St. Catharines in Ontario, Canada. Ten Princeton athletes competed in the event, including two undergraduates. The Class of 1998, which featured Chris Ahrens, who shared the Roper Award as Princeton's outstanding senior male athlete, made the largest showing with three participating members. Ahrens combined with fellow Tiger graduate Tom Welsh to win the gold with the men's eight at the championships. In addition there were six Princeton staff members on the U.S. staff.
