Columbia trailed the pack slightly for some time, then dropped back while still holding off Temple. With approx. 400m to go, Penn charged and pulled even and perhaps slightly ahead, while Princeton waited slightly longer on their sprint, then pushed back through and ahead for the win. Approaching the 1000m mark, Radcliffe made a strong move to pull away from Cornell and draw just about even with Princeton as the bows surged across the 1000, but Princeton immediately pushed away, earning much of the final margin in the third 500. Cornell had trailed both crews, but may have made up some ground on Radcliffe in the final 500. Princeton is the winner of the 1975 Cup, donated by members of the Princeton women's class of 1975.

The Tigers covered the 2,000-meter course in 5:48.99, a little under eight seconds faster than the Midshipmen's 5:56.79. In the race, the first spring race jitters were quickly settled as both teams challenged for an early lead. A clear separation between the two teams occurred at around the 1300-meter mark. It was there where Princeton began to separate itself from Navy by taking about a boat length of a lead before they stretched it out for the margin of victory.
Navy head coach Rick Clothier was upbeat about what he saw in the spring season opener from his team. "Today we had marketable improvement from last year's race to this year's. I think today's race gives us a sense of optimism about our season. " said Clothier.

Most of the margin came after that point.Second Varsity 8** Princeton took an early lead, but Brown recovered in the second 500 and kept going. This is a very good 2V.
Varsity 4*** For a long stretch, this was a very tight three-boat race among the leaders. The Princeton A boat, rowing lower than most of the field and probably five beats under the Brown A boat, eventually established a solid lead. The Princeton B boat threatened to catch Brown, but Brown was able to push to the finish a length ahead.

Saturday Prelim Heat Results - Wisconsin first (7:19.20), Princeton second (7:21.45)From Coach Heather Smith: Saturday was a beautiful day, and in our heat at 9:00am the conditions were fine. Wisconsin beat us across the line by 2 seconds, and the remaining 5 boats followed in parade style. After the defeat, we had very clear goals for Sunday's final.
Sunday Grand Final Results - Princeton first (7:13.73), Wisconsin second (7:28.63)
From Coach Heather Smith: Princeton rowed a better race on Sunday in the final, but with 500m to go was trailing Wisco by 6 seats. Out of the blue, someone in the Wisco boat caught a boat stopping, over the head crab. BOOM! We rowed to victory, and Wisco had an impressive recovery and finished second, slightly ahead of Radcliffe. It was not the race we had anticipated, but it was a learning experience. As the saying goes, it ain't over 'til its over. In addition, we need to gather some speed if we expect to beat Wisconsin in the coming weeks. Lightning doesn't usually strike twice!
