Head of the Charles Regatta

Last year (1999), all teams exhibited strong showings with most teams coming in the top 10, and in one case right behind the Princeton Training Center! Last year (1999), the Princeton Freshmen Men's 8+ came in 1st, as well as the Novice Women's 4+. The Women's 4+ came in 4th and 5th ahead of all other collegiate teams. For last years results, see Head of the Schuylkill Regatta 1999 Results.

This race is held annually at Lake Carnegie, Princeton. Last year (1999), Princeton won the Women's Lightweight 8+, Women's Open 8+ and 4+, and Men's Heavyweight 8+ and 4+, with the Men's Lightweight 8+ and 4+ coming in second just behind Yale in both events. The Belly of the Carnegie, held at Lake Carnegie, Princeton, is an invitational Head race hosted by the Princeton University crew coaching staff for freshmen men and novice women collegiate crews, and usually ends the fall racing season. The Belly of the Carnegie regatta is composed of three races for Women, Lightweight Men and Heavyweight Men competing over a distance of 2¾ miles. Last year (1999) the Women won their race, with the The Belly of the Carnegie Point Trophy (best total time for the 3 teams) going to Princeton.
