Opportunities for Princeton University Undergraduate Students

Funding for Undergraduate Research Fellows in the Study of Religion

For 2007-2008, the Center for the Study of Religion has funds available to support a limited number of junior and senior independent research projects in the study of religion with a focus on any religious tradition. Awards vary in amount from $100 to $1000 with $250 (juniors) and $500 (seniors) being average award sizes. Students are encouraged to apply to other sources of funding in addition to CSR (e.g. their departments or the Dean's office).

Award recipients will be named "Undergraduate Research Fellows" at Center for the Study of Religion and will be asked to report on their research at a luncheon at the Center. Fellows will also be invited to participate in other center events if relevant to their research.

To apply, please complete the application form found at https://www-dept-edit.princeton.edu/csr/forms/undergraduate_fellows/index.xml

After completing the form, please send a 2-3 page proposal of your research plans and a 1-page budget to CSR Associate Director David A. Michelson via e-mail (dmichels@princeton.edu). Applications will be reviewed on a first-come basis. For funds to be awarded by January 31st, applications should be received by  January 10, 2008. For funds to be awarded by March 31st, applications should be received by March 10, 2008. Late applications WILL be considered if funding is still available.

Please contact David Michelson with any questions at 258-2281 or dmichels@princeton.edu.
