Alison Goldblatt '12
Alison is eXcited to be joining eXpressions, obviously the best group on campus! She is from Fort Montgomery, NY and started dancing at age 7. Spending her summers in Scarsdale and occasionally taking master classes at Steps on Broadway, she studied with Diana White, Christian Claessens, and Valentina Kozlova (whose classes she is lucky to have survived!). During the school year she choreographed and performed in school musicals. Most of her time, however, was spent dancing with the Orange County Ballet Theatre, in whose productions of ‘The Nutcracker’ she moved up the ranks and got to perform as Clara, Snow Queen, Arabian, Sugar Plum Fairy and, perhaps most notably, the coveted role of Pregnant Mouse in the Mouse Fight! Woohoo! At her home studio, Broadway Dance Arts (formerly known as Powers Dance Art Centre), she studied a variety of styles, including ballet/pointe, tap, jazz/theater dance, lyrical, hip hop, and a tiny bit of ballroom, training primarily under Regis Powers, Merritt Thompson, Carol Purcell, Alicia Lovely, Jen Marquardt, Michelle Bruckner, George Nieves, and the incomparable Darlene Wilson who, before tragically passing away from lung cancer in 2007, taught Alison to believe in herself, dance for her life, and never stop until she gets into a Broadway show! Every performance for the rest of her life is dedicated to Darlene, her Guardian Angel, except for the bad performances, which are dedicated to an elementary school teacher who shall go unnamed! Most recently Alison danced in the music video “Collide” (The Ruse), and she can’t wait to do more fierce dancing with her awesome new eXpressions friends!!!
