Sometime around 1596, the Dutch tourist Johannes de Witt made this sketch, not of the Globe but of a competitor's theater, the Swan. We know that the Swan was constructed to resemble the Globe, so this, the only contemporary drawing of the interior of an Elizabethan theater, gives us the best sense of what the Globe might have looked like.
