Princeton GCCS Log August 8, 2006 1700 GMT GCT file: asap_0806_v8 Gliders under control: we05, we07, we09, we10, we12 Coordination plan: there are two gliders assigned to travel around the northern track: we10 will continue counter-clockwise and we12 will reverse course and go clockwise. Gliders we07 and we09 are assigned to the middle track and will seek to remain on opposite sides. Glider we05 is assigned to travel counter-clockwise around the southern track. Coordination summary: gliders we10 and we12 are bunched on the northern offshore corner of the northern track due in part to strong northward flow. Gliders we07 and we09 have decent separation and performance should improve now that they are uncoupled from we10 and we12. Glider we05 is on the southern edge of the sampling domain and experiencing strong southern flow. Glider OA Flow summary: there appears to be a nearly perfect bifurcation of the onshore flow in the middle of the sampling domain--strong northern flow appears to the north and strong southern flow appears to the south of this point. Outlook: glider we08 has transited to the southern offshore corner of the sampling domain and is under observation.
