Princeton GCCS Log August 9, 2006 1600 GMT GCT file: asap_0806_v9 Gliders under control: we05, we07, we08, we09, we10, we12 Coordination plan: there are two gliders assigned to travel on opposite sides around each of the three tracks: we10/we12 (clockwise) on the northern track; we07/we09 (counter-clockwise) on the middle track; and we05/we08 (counter-clockwise) on the souther track. Coordination summary: gliders pairs we10/we12 and we07/we09 have good separation. Glider we08 will join we05 on the southern track. Glider OA Flow summary: the bifurcation point has moved north slightly to the northern offshore corner of the middle track. Flow to the north of this point along the offshore edge of the sampling domain is moving north whereas flow to the south of this point is moving south. There is also some southward flow on the inshore edge of the northern track which suggests that the upwelling is underway. Outlook: glider we08 needs to skirt some strong southward flow as it transit northeast a few kilometers to join we05 on the southern track.
