Preface

This manual is a user guide to version 4.010 of the FEMGEN to LR.STRAND Interface Program. The software described in this manual is compatible with FEMGV versions 6 and above and LR.STRAND version 2.2. The interface program is incorporated within FEMGEN and when the LR.STRAND environment is selected some of the FEMGEN menus will be significantly altered in order to allow access to LR.STRAND data types.

This new release of FEMGV with the LR.STRAND interface represents a significant increase in the level of integration between FEMGEN and LR.STRAND and incorporates the following new features:

• Selection of LR.STRAND element types by name on the command line and in the FEMGEN menus.
• Definition of constraints by name (e.g. X, RX etc.) including support of constraint macros such as XSYMM, ENCASTRE etc.
• Support of the advanced loading features present in FEMGV.
• The display of PRESSURE and HYDROSTATIC loads in FEMGEN normal to shell element faces has been reversed and the sign reversal necessary in previous interface program versions has been removed
• Processing of hydrostatic loads with a zero pressure point has been modified to suppress output of any pressure values above the zero level.
