Viewing the Grid

When a model is first selected, an outline of the model is displayed, using a default viewing angle.

This allows users to check that they have selected the correct model. For PHOENICS models it should be noted that this view is an outline of the whole model and includes any blocked cells.

FEMVIEW provides many techniques for displaying the mesh. To look at the full mesh the command is VIEW MESH. The easiest way to look at just the unblocked cells is to use the VIEW MESH MAT1 command. The VIEW MESH command will now display only the mesh associated with the set `MAT1'. 'MAT1' is automatically created by the interface to contain only cells that are unblocked. Similarly, the cells that are fully blocked are in a set 'MAT100', which can be viewed with VIEW MESH MAT100. Cells that have been given PRPS values greater than 100 are put in a set 'MATprps_number' and can be viewed similarly.

The user can rotate the model and zoom in and out to achieve a desired view. Views can be stored in the database using the command DRAWING SAVE LIVE and recovered on subsequent occasions with the DRAWING RECOVER LIVE (drawing number) command.

The viewing of a subset of the model will be quicker than viewing the whole model. To return to viewing the whole mesh the command VIEW MESH ALL may be used.
