Contour Plots

To display a result set as a contour plot the results type NODAL should be selected using the command RESULTS NODAL name, where 'name' is the variable to be displayed, for example P1.

There are three styles of contour plot: filled contours (the default), line contours and mesh contours. The type used is selected using the PRESENT OPTIONS CONTOUR command. This command also allows the annotation to be controlled, and number of colours used (on colour displays) to be selected. For 3D models where the full mesh is displayed, VIEW HIDDEN FILL is usually required.

The number of contour levels used and the value represented by each line is controlled using the PRESENT CONTOUR command. Thus to display line contours of pressure with eight equally spaced contours the commands would be :-

PRESENT OPTIONS CONTOUR LINE
RESULTS NODAL P1
PRESENT CONTOURS LEVELS 8

If line contours are used with an outline view of the model, surfaces of constant value are displayed.
