Material Properties

Material properties are defined using the command 'PROPERTY MATERIAL MAT ...' and assigned to parts or sets using the command 'PROPERTY ATTACH ...'. The name of the first defined material is placed on the job control, the name of each appropriate material is placed on the type 31 cards, and a list of material definitions are placed on type 81 cards. Only isotropic materials are supported. The actual material property values will be assigned to the correct location on the type 81 cards.

Where a heat load or prescribed temperature has been applied, a type 82 card will be created instead. In this case, the headings generated using the command 'UTILITY TABULATE GEOMETRY MATERIALS' are meaningless, and the interface simply takes the first three values and assigns them to the density, specific heat, and conductivity fields respectively on the type 82 card.
