Running the Interface

The interface will only produce an input deck if all or part of the model contains a mesh created by FEMGEN using the command 'MESHING GENERATE ALL/part'. Once the model has been meshed, the interface may be run using the FEMGEN command 'UTILITY WRITE FINEL filename'. The file name is optional and the default name is 'modelname.anl'. When the user supplies a file name with no extension, the extension '.anl' will be automatically added. In both these cases, the extension default '.anl' can be changed by setting the environment variable FG_PRE_EXT to any appropriate file extension.

A short dialogue session, which will activate the questions below, will then be entered. The user is asked, first, to specify the analysis type: stress, thermal (conduction) or dynamic. If a permanent FINEL database is required, the user will be prompted for its name. The last question prompts for the name of the FEMVIEW database file. All the questions include available options and defaults. These defaults can be selected by pressing the $<$return$\gt$ key. The `/` character may be used to abort the interface.
