USING THE INTERFACE

The interface is executed from within the FEMGEN module of FEMGV, and is invoked by the command `UTILITY WRITE PHOENICS [grid_filename]'. The translation method used is dependent on the presence of FEMGEN sets names BLK1 to BLKn where n is the number of blocks in the model. If the named sets are not defined the 'monoblock' body based translation method (described in FGV2.3/PHOENICS/2.05) will be used. If the named sets are present and the interface has been linked to the CHAM GENIE library then Q1 and XYZ files will be written directly using the element based connectivity. If the interface has not been linked to the GENIE system a PEN format file will be written.

Before the interface can be used an acceptable mesh must have been generated within FEMGEN. The mesh must conform to the PHOENICS requirements for regularity and if the grid is multiblock the blocks must be stacked in accordance with the PHOENICS rules for multiblock models.

If XYZ and Q1 files are produced by the interface they are called `filename.anl' and `filename.Q1' respectively. If a PEN file is written it is called PEN. For an example of these files see Appendix A.
